Cyclone Phet knocks at Gujarat
The temperature which was four to five degrees above normal for almost a fortnight was one to two degree below normal in many towns and cities of Gujarat on Wednesday.
With rains, the Phet induced change in weather has also brought threat of devastating thunder storm in coastal areas of Gujarat. Weather office has warned fishermen in the state not to venture in the sea Friday onward. It has asked fishermen to return by Thursday evening if they are already in the sea.
Cyclone update issued by the weather office on Wednesday evening said that fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls would commence over coastal areas of Saurashtra and Kutch from Friday and increase thereafter.
It further said that gale winds with speed reaching 65-75 kmph gusting 85 kmph would sweep Gujarat coast and off coast area from Friday.
