Tawjihi Results 2011-2012 - Tawjihi Results to Reach Students via Text Messages
Minister of Education Tayseer Nuaimi on Saturday preferred not to disclose the exact date of announcing the 2011 Tawjihi (Secondary School General Examination Certificate) results, noting however that the grading procedures have already been completed on Friday.

Nuaimi stressed in a press conference on Saturday at the Examination Department that students will receive their final examination results via text messages to their mobile phones 15 minutes before they are published on the Ministry's website the day the grades are announced.

The Minister briefed journalists on the Ministry's methodology in writing up exams and the measures taken from the time of examination until the announcement of final results, stressing that they "are done under the highest professional and oversight standards."

He denied claims that mistakes were committed during the grading phase, stressing that Tawjihi exam grading is done under "strict supervision."

Regarding students' exam responses and the answer sheet templates, the Minister clarified that they are not fully standardized, noting that there were "genius" answers given by talented students that were accepted although they were not part of the curriculum.

He also denied reports of "mass cheating" during the examinations, noting that the Ministry reclaimed 99.9 percent of the exam sheets, and that cheating incidents were "isolated."

12 students this summer session were suspended from the 2011 Tawjihi examination and referred to courts for cheating or violating regulations, 460 students received warnings, 300 were suspended from one subject, while 75 students were suspended from the 2011 summer session, Nuaimi said.

He noted that there is an increase in "digital cheating" schemes, including using a mini-cameras implanted in pens, adding that the Ministry is working to keep up to date with cheating mechanisms to limit the phenomenon.

High school students undergo the Tawjihi exam at their 12th and final school year, with grades determining the choices of college fields of study they enroll in.
