Palmetto Assessment of State Standards  Results 2011- PASS Test Results In: Charleston Students Outperform State Peers
The 2011 Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (PASS) test results were recently released and revealed that local students are outperforming the rest of their state peers, ABC News Charleston affiliate WCIV-TV reports.

Charleston County School District (CCSD) students earned higher "exemplary" marks than other students across the state in every subject and grade level.

CCSD students excelled in Math, Science, and Social Studies, and eighth grade students showed the most improvement of the grades three through eight that were tested.

The high PASS marks earned by CCSD students are attributed to the county’s high education standards, according to the report.

The PASS was launched in spring 2009 and is annually administered to the state’s public and charter schools, testing students in five subject areas: writing, English language arts (reading and research), mathematics, science and social studies.
