JACKSON, MS (WLBT) RESULTS- MS students score in top categories on state tests
JACKSON, MS (WLBT) -

According to the latest test results, more than half of Mississippi's students scored in the top two categories on the state's standardized tests this year.

The Mississippi Department of Education released test results Friday. These tests were taken this past school year by students in the third grade up to 8th grade and by many high-schoolers.

The second edition of the Mississippi Curriculum Test for 3rd through 8th graders focuses on areas of math and language arts. It was revamped during the 2007 and 2008 school year in order to make it more challenging.

MDE  says the number of students scoring "proficient" on the MCT2 test rose on every level with the exception of fourth, fifth and sixth grade math and fifth grade language arts.
