Krishna University

Introduction : History

In pursuance of the recommendations made by Knowledge Commission, Krishna University wasestablished by the Government of Andhra Pradesh at Machilipatnam through Act No. 29 of 2008 published through Gazette No. 43, dated 24th September, 2008. Its jurisdiction is confined to the entire Krishna district.
Krishna University is situated in the historic coastal town of Machilipatnam, the headquarters of Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. The name of the University is derived from the river Krishna, the lifeline of the Krishna basin.
Krishna University is presently located in the premises of Andhra Jateeya Kalasala, a reputed institution known from the days of the national freedom movement. The university is housed in Mutnuru Krishna Rao building having 15000 sq. ft. plinth area to run the existing and planned courses.
Prof. M.K. Durga Prasad has been appointed as the Vice-Chacellor of the University by its Chancellor and the Governor of Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Y. Kishore has been appointed as the Registrar of the University.
