The ongoing Research Projects:
The On-going Rajiv Gandhi Biotechnology Centre - Department of Biotechnology (RGBC-DBT) Support Programme i.e. M.Sc. Biotechnology Teaching programme which is approved & sanctioned by DBT, Min. of Sci. & Tech. Govt. of India, NewDelhi has been started in the year 2004. The students selection and admission are made on All India Combined Entrance Examination basis Conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi under the DBT, Min. of Sci. & Tech. Govt. ofIndia, New Delhi.
The basic mandate of the Centre is to build up a strong foundation with necessary infrastructure for expanding the horizons of knowledge and its efficient dissemination thereby fulfilling the following objectives:
- Development of trained man-power in biotechnology field with special emphasis onEnvironmental & Fermentation Biotechnology
- Design & Development of indigenous fermentation technology through practical knowledge
- Development of indigenous Fermented Food products/ Low cost Medial New Biotech-pharmaceuticals etc.
- Prevention of Environmental deterioration through adoption of environment friendly biotech approach
- Protection of local germplasm & natural resources in view of sustainable development concept
- Awareness building and public education & orientation
- Development of the modest infra-structure through submission of more job oriented, marketing & consultancy oriented R&D proposals
- Interactions of students with nationally & internationally acclaimed scientists for exploring more collaboration in recent scientific development by organizing the Conferences,Seminars, Workshops at National as well as Intemational level
